Built to match the register

Most gold loan firms in Karnataka still run on paper — registers, pledge cards, interest worked out by hand at the counter. That system works. It has worked for generations. What it does not do is tell you today's collection while you are away from the shop, or catch a missed compounding before the customer does.

The software that existed never fit. Products built for city NBFCs are too costly and too complicated for a firm with two counters, and almost none of them calculate interest the way a girvi register actually does — a part month counted as a full month, compounding at the year, first-month rules that vary by firm. Software that divides by 365 days will disagree with your register, and your register is right.

So GoldKhata was built the other way round: start from the register, match it to the rupee, and only then decide what the screen should look like. Every calculation was checked against real pledges, real closures and real inspections before it was offered to anyone else. The statutory registers print in the formats an inspector expects. The notices carry Speed Post consignment numbers.
